This week was definitely a busy one with the holiday program, potato decorating, and tons of reading, writing, math, science, and social skill work. Here are some students dressed up for the program.
Ask your child how much "money" they have in their "wallets." Students have to earn fake money to "buy" items to decorate their gingerbread house next week. They can spend 25 cents but have to first be architects as they design and plan their house while staying within their budget. To earn their money, students have to go above and beyond my expectations by helping a friend, running errands or doing chores for me, or being extra responsible. Some students have lost some coins because they made a mistake by not being respectful or responsible and had to pay me, but they always have a chance to earn it back! We are enjoying the money system so much that I may think about continuing it after Christmas for other projects. I was even thinking about an auction at some point where students can spend their money... Please leave comments if you have ideas!
First graders, Cowboy says, "I hope you have a great weekend."
